Wardrobe Diaries: A date at the range
As an early Mother's Day present this year my husband went the unconventional route and bought me a pistol. I guess that's what happens when you marry a soldier. We went to the range on the weekend, him with his gun and me with my new 9mm Springfield XDM Compact. This outfit was perfect for the occasion, comfortable, casual and most importantly black coloured. All those Hollywood action films make shooting look way too easy.

Wardrobe Diaries: Colour Me Coral
Shirt, shorts, fedora, flats and a luxe baby bag make the perfect ensemble for the Battalion picnic at husband's work. I love the look of a wide brim fedora, it's a little more feminine and actually keeps the sun out (mind-blowing). This outfit conjures up images of driving through Europe in a little convertible (cue in road trip scene from Only You) all I'm missing is the silk scarf fluttering in the wind.

Fresh Strawberries with Balsamic Reduction
It's strawberry season again! I took the girls strawberry picking yesterday, they had so much fun playing out in the sunshine and eating fresh berries. We never actually got around to picking any berries ourselves. I did make sure we didn't leave empty handed so we came home with a bucket of pre-picked strawberries instead.
For me, the best way to enjoy strawberries is to just wash and eat. However, this recipe for a balsamic reduction dressing really brings out the strawberry's natural flavours. In fact it's so good that I don't think I can go back to having fresh berries without a little balsamic sauce on the side. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Fresh picked local strawberries.
Prep strawberries while sauce is reducing.
Reduce balsamic vinegar and brown sugar till sauce thickens.
Drizzle on sauce and enjoy!
Ingredients
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 pint fresh strawberries
Method
1. Wash strawberries.
2. Combine balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in saucepan. Bring to boil, let sauce reduce and thicken on medium heat about 7 minutes. Be careful not to caramelise the sauce, add more balsamic vinegar if that happens.
3. Prep strawberries however way you prefer, garnish with icing sugar and mint or basil leaf.
4. Drizzle on balsamic sauce and serve.
5. Store extra sauce to use on salads, fruit etc.

Wardrobe Diaries: Winter In Springtime
It has been unseasonably cool the last week. I even had to break out my faux fur and quilted jacket. But I must admit, the layered neutral shades of black, grey and white do make a lovely colour scheme. These are my favourite pair of shorts, I wear them with everything so be prepared to see more of them in future posts.
